When most people think of San Francisco, they think of the 'Barc, the Presidio, and, of course, the Golden Gate. Me? I think of ghosts and vampires. Few people realize that this city was, much as it is today, a major trading port for the country, if not the world. Some sleazy, and often downright evil, people have made their way through these very streets. They've left behind the energies of their thaumaturgical naughtiness, the spirits of murdered prostitutes, and the youthful lifeforce of a brand new people, the first settlers to come west. Of course, it doesn't hurt that in the years since, there has been a tremendous influx of Chinese citizens, bringing their alchemical wizardry, Turkish immigrants, with their chanting prayers and powerful religious devotion, and Mexicans, with the voodooan Santaria. And don't even get me started on the Catholics.
I'm Christopher Ford. I've just hit 46, and I'm not happy about it. I've just celebrated my 26th year on the SFPD, and I've been a homicide detective in my spare time for the last 8 years. But my real passion is the supernatural. Oh sure, I know some of you are already thinking of Mulder and Scully, but I don't buy into that UFO crap. When I say "supernatural," I'm talking about ghosts, gremlins, demons, gargoyles, wizards, that kind of stuff. I believe that there are spirits all around us, even in the air. Sometimes, a very lucky few can see them. I've made it my life's quest to make sure I'm one of them. And trust me, the ghost is never, ever, a stodgy old caretaker in a rubber mask.
So join me, if you will, on some of my adventures. You may not believe all of it, you don't have to, you weren't there. But I was, and I can tell you, with Quetzalcoatl as my witness, it really happened.

Welcome to Christopher Ford.
As near as I can tell, I started writing Ford in early 2000, and hit a snag in the writing somewhere around 2006. Ten stories were published in all, over the course of 5 or 6 years, before I found myself completely unable to reach that part inside where these tales came from.
I promised I wouldn't make this site live again until I was prepared to write the last few chapters.
Unfortunately, that never happened, and the further I get from that promise, the more people ask when I'll put the series back online.
I thank everyone who encouraged this project over the years it ran, and I hope those of you who never had the chance to read it before find something worthwhile here.
